A complete diagnostic of your construction business — profit, systems, and sales together — plus the strategic layer that ties them.
A contractor health check is the flagship comprehensive diagnostic engagement Tumbleweed Consulting offers. It covers all three single-area diagnostics — Profit & Accounting, Systems & Operations, Sales & Pipeline — and adds a strategic layer that none of them have on their own: a 12-month forward financial model, an owner load map, and a strategic risk register.
The result is the clearest read a contractor can get on where their business is, where it’s headed, and what to do in the next 90 days. It is written for owners who are past the “let’s poke at one area” stage and want the complete picture — particularly contractors with $1M to $20M in revenue, growing teams, and decisions in motion that depend on knowing whether the growth plan is actually possible.
The Health Check costs $4,000 CAD (founding price for the first 20 businesses) — which saves $500 versus buying the three single-area diagnostics separately. The pricing difference reflects the integration value: the diagnostics are cross-referenced, the strategic layer is added, and the analysis is delivered as one coherent picture rather than three reports.
This engagement is not a business valuation, a succession plan, a capital raise advisory, or a tax review. Those stay with specialized advisors.
The Health Check is built for:
This is the right starting engagement if you’re saying any of these out loud:
If you’re focused on a single area — pricing only, operations only, sales only — the single-area diagnostics at $1,500 each are the right choice.
Everything from the three single-area diagnostics, cross-referenced and integrated, plus the strategic layer.
The written summary is approximately 20–30 pages. Cross-referenced. Includes 1-page printable artifacts (process map, owner load map, 90-day plan) you can put on the wall.
The intake is the most comprehensive of any engagement. About 4–5 hours of owner time over a week. You upload to a private Google Drive folder we provide.
If any of this is messy or missing, the engagement pauses. The Health Check is not run on guesses for $4,000.

Total turnaround: 4–5 weeks from receipt of complete intake to written summary.
Fee: $4,000 CAD (founding price for the first 20 businesses; standard pricing thereafter). GST/PST extra where applicable. Saves $500 vs. buying the three single-area diagnostics separately.
Payment: 50% on signing ($2,000). 50% on delivery of the written summary ($2,000).

Credit toward coaching: 50% of the diagnostic fee ($2,000) credited toward a coaching package if you engage Tumbleweed Consulting for coaching within 30 days of receiving the written summary. This is the most direct path from a Health Check into a 3- or 6-month engagement.
$4,000 CAD founding price for the first 20 businesses to engage. Standard pricing applies after that. The fee is paid 50% on signing and 50% on delivery of the written summary.
A single-area diagnostic ($1,500) covers one of three areas: Profit & Accounting, Systems & Operations, or Sales & Pipeline. The Full Contractor Health Check ($4,000) covers all three areas plus a strategic layer that includes a 12-month forward financial model, an owner load map, and a strategic risk register. The Health Check is cross-referenced — meaning findings in one area inform recommendations in others — while individual diagnostics are stand-alone.
Founding pricing exists to load the first cohort of clients with a defined number of slots, after which pricing resets to standard rates. Founding clients also receive a written guarantee that their slot is reserved at the founding rate. Track the available count via the fit call.
4 to 5 weeks from receipt of complete intake. The owner’s time investment is approximately 4–5 hours for intake, plus four scheduled calls (owner call, walkthrough, key-employee, findings × 2) totalling about 4–5 hours of meeting time.
A 30-minute interview with one employee chosen by the owner produces information the owner doesn’t usually see — operational friction, communication breakdowns, hidden bottlenecks. The interview is conducted under the same confidentiality as the rest of the engagement; only anonymized findings appear in the report.
Yes, at $250 per additional interview. The default scope includes one.
Yes. The report is yours. Many clients share the strategic layer specifically with bankers, lenders, or business partners.
If continuing into coaching makes sense for your situation, the 50% diagnostic credit applies to a Contractor Core ($2,400 / 3-month / bi-weekly) or Contractor Fast Track ($3,000 / 3-month / weekly) engagement. If continuing doesn’t make sense, you keep the report and the populated tools.
